A leading Swiss multinational enterprise operating in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and nutrition sectors partnered with DPV Transportation to navigate complex transportation demands at their expansive campus in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Spanning round-the-clock operations and accommodating a diverse workforce of over 3,500 employees, DPV Transportation rose to the challenge.
Initiating their collaboration, DPV Transportation embarked on a six-month pilot program for the company. Demonstrating its value, the partnership evolved when the company engaged ABM, a reputable transportation contract management firm. This pivotal step led DPV Transportation to reenvision its services, rebuilding from the ground up, and formalizing its collaboration with ABM, ultimately culminating in a successful contract alignment in July 2022.
Crafting a transportation solution tailored to the company’s unique workforce, DPV Transportation acquired dedicated vehicles for the task. This investment allowed them to craft a service that intricately met the commuting needs of the company’s staff. Operating five days a week, 15 hours per day, two custom 24-passenger mini-buses ran a continuous loop between campus buildings, providing indispensable employee transport. The partnership thrived with two dedicated account managers ensuring swift resolution of any issues that arose.
An intricate challenge emerged during the project’s implementation phase, arising from the campus’s proximity to a military air force base. Initial two-way radio communication was hindered by stringent military regulations. In response, DPV Transportation adeptly navigated this issue, collaborating with technology experts to implement a State-compliant two-way radio system, ensuring seamless communication without disrupting the project’s timeline.
Guided by a comprehensive project management methodology, DPV Transportation executed the project in five crucial steps. Beginning with a thorough analysis of the scope of services and their alignment with DPV’s core capabilities, the team transitioned to the planning phase. Here, capital and personnel requirements were assessed, a project timeline was established, and intricate route mapping was accomplished. Moving on to the execution phase, DPV Transportation procured specialized vehicles, enlisted skilled personnel, and certified CDL drivers, and seamlessly integrated the client into their accounting system. An operations manager and account manager were exclusively assigned to oversee the project, ensuring meticulous monitoring, control, and ultimately, successful project closure.
DPV Transportation’s journey with the multinational enterprise was one marked by evolution. From an initial pilot program through service reinvention and formal partnership establishment, DPV Transportation consistently met the transportation demands of the client. Upholding the principles of the Project Management methodology, they adeptly overcame challenges and meticulously executed each project phase, solidifying their reputation as an innovative and reliable transportation partner.
